You will lose all data on the phone following the steps below: You do not need to download ANY third party software or even connect your phone to computer to remove any screen lock on your phone. BUT, when you turn it on & go through the initial set-up, just log-in to your Samsung Account & click on RESTORE! YOU DON'T HAVE TO REINSTALL EVERYTHING-ALL APPS/SETTINGS/SMS/TEXTS w/PICS/CONTACTS/APPS/THEMES/WALLPAPERS/RINGTONES/CALENDARS/CLOCKS.YES, EVERYTHING, will be restored to your phone, as of the latest backup date & time! This WILL erase ALL data from your device. Then, if you run into a situation like I did, where Google Device Manager and/or Samsung Find My Device functions for resetting the password fail, REMOVE your micro-SD card & do a FACTORY RESET.
BEFORE YOU SET ANY LOCK PIN/PASSWORD/PATTERN-REGISTER YOUR PHONE ON A SAMSUNG ACCOUNT! Enable auto-backups of apps/themes/SMS/texts/contacts, etc, in the Samsung Account, save all media that you can to the micro-SD card (back this up too on PC), then proceed with your lock settings. I have a lot of CDs I need to re-rip (courtesy of a theft some time back). Who carries around optical drives any more? I'd rather have reliability and sturdy operation. Given the relative lack of slot-loading drives in the external form-factor (and generally) I'm likely to opt for a full-sized internal drive with a motorised tray. I'm not sure if this was down to the hardware, ripping software, or both but it was certainly annoying to have failed rips and have to retry multiple times hoping for the best. I had a generic external blu-ray drive previously (still do in storage) and it was pretty unreliable for ripping purposes. The problem with most slim drives, at least external ones, is that they come with (what I judge as) flimsy trays are otherwise unattractive have legacy USB ports or come from Chinese manufacturers with questionable warranty coverage should I ever have an issue. An external 4K slim slot-loading drive that's somewhat attractive and has a USB-C port! If it was UHD-friendly I would buy it instantly. It's a shame that Pioneer drives are so anti-consumer-restricted-locked down-drm heavy etc, because they make what appear to be otherwise decent, attractive, and probably reliable drives.
